How many calories per day should i eat and is this a good routine?
dont tell me to do the formula thing just give me an opinion
im 16, 5ft6 and weigh about 148-150 lbs i have been eating healthier since January 11th and since then i have lost about 10-12 lbs and i see the difference ( its mainly just stomach fat im trying to get rid off, my waist is like 30 inchs now)
for breakfast i eat 1 whole egg with 3 Tbls of egg whites w/ sliced up pieces of spinach, tomato, onion, and green pepper. I drink 1 cup of green tea and a multi vitamin
i go to school and get out at 2:40
so i dont eat till about 3:00 or 3:30
for lunch and dinner i eat like stuff like tuna, usually turkey, 110 calorie bagel, fruit, brown rice, lentiles and vegetable some reasonable portion / combination like that and stuff with another cup of green tea…..all i drink is green tea or water.
lunch at around 3:00 or 3:30
dinner around 6:00 or 7:00 then i go running later at night maybe 9:00 or somethin for like 15-30 min depends. when ever i feel like it i do pull ups, also im gonna start lifting weights soon once i lose enough body fat, i do jui jitsu but havent gone in a while but plan to get serious about it 2 times a week
i have snacks like fruit or whatever if i feel like it but not over doing it only if im hungry
and every now and then i cheat but only so i dont go crazy, usually the weekends but never over do it. ( ps. i believe my metabolism is pretty decent, cuz in the past i have been able to eat alot and not gain much usually stay at 160) anyway……
SO WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON MY ROUTINE?
oh yeah and im a dude lol
Everything you eat seems good, though I think you left off what you eat during dinner. I do not know that I could make it through the day on what you eat (I’d have to eat more), but if you don’t have energy problems it isn’t a problem. Do you think eating more regularly would help you cheat less? If you cheat because you’re hungry, eat more. If you cheat because your friends are going out to eat or w/e, don’t eat more. You will probably want to eat a bit more when you start lifting weights though.

that is awesome that you’re trying to take care of yourself by eating healthy AND exercising. some things to keep in mind on top of that though:
1) women who don’t work out need at least 1200 calories a day, women who are active need about 1500. calories don’t just equal fat, they also are the energy needed to make your basic cell functions happen (healthy brain, healthy heart).
2) it looks like you’re getting the right kind of calories, but from this it doesn’t look like you’re getting enough of them. you also need to make sure that you’re getting a BALANCED diet, meaning that you need to mix up all the veggies, fruits and grains you’re eating.
3) people who eat 1200 calories a day are less likely to fall off their diet, are less likely to binge eat, and are less likely to regain the weight they lose.
best of luck to you hon!!
p.s. don’t listen to stephen – he is just trying to sell you stuff!!!
